Case Study
RSVP'd
Your AI event planner.
Summary
A fully custom AI-native SaaS application for event planning across weddings, corporate events, dinner parties, and more. Built end-to-end on Cloudflare Workers with AI handling vendor outreach, email triage, timeline generation, budget intelligence, and 24/7 guest coordination.
Problem
Event planning is the most fragmented consumer software market in existence. The average wedding alone touches a venue contract, a dozen vendors, a 100+ person guest list with dietary restrictions and seating logistics, an evolving budget, a day-of timeline, and inbound communications across email, SMS, and WhatsApp. Couples and hosts juggle six to ten apps and spreadsheets to coordinate it all, and most of them give up and pay a planner $5,000-$15,000 just to consolidate the chaos. The opportunity was clear, but building a credible competitor to legacy tools like Aisle Planner or HoneyBook would normally take a 10+ person engineering team eighteen months and several million dollars. The question was whether a single founder could build something genuinely better in a fraction of the time using AI as the engineering force multiplier.
Solution
We built RSVP'd as an AI-native platform from the ground up: a full multi-tenant SaaS with its own API, marketing site, app, and billing infrastructure, all running on Cloudflare's edge network. AI is not a bolt-on feature; it is the operating system. AI drafts vendor inquiries based on event context, classifies inbound vendor replies and advances the pipeline state, generates personalized timelines and checklists from event details, refines plans through interactive natural-language conversation, and powers the day-of communication hub across email, SMS, and WhatsApp. The result is a platform that delivers what a $5,000 wedding planner does, for $49 a month, while opening up entirely new event verticals (corporate, baby showers, dinner parties, anniversaries, graduations, custom) on the same infrastructure.
Results
- • Shipped a multi-tenant AI SaaS platform from concept to live in months, not years
- • AI drafts vendor emails, classifies inbound replies, and auto-advances the booking pipeline without human intervention
- • Supports eight event types with a tiered model (free for non-weddings, $49/mo Pro, $399/mo white-label for planners)

rsvpd.ai →The Challenge
Building a credible event planning platform meant getting four hard things right at once. First, infrastructure: a multi-tenant SaaS with authentication, billing, file storage, real-time messaging, vector search, scheduled workflows, and queue-based side effects, all production-grade from day one. Second, AI integration that goes beyond chat: an AI vendor pipeline that drafts outreach, parses replies, classifies intent, and updates state; an AI timeline generator that pulls context from the event record, vendor list, budget, guest count, and prior conversations to produce a tailored day-of schedule; an AI checklist engine that adapts to event type and cultural profile. Third, multi-channel communications: Gmail OAuth with Pub/Sub push for instant inbound routing, Outlook OAuth for parity, SMS and WhatsApp for the day-of guest app. Fourth, a product surface that scales across radically different event types - a wedding's needs are nothing like a corporate retreat's, but both have to feel native in the same product. Doing all four in parallel, as a single-founder build, was the entire bet.
Implementation
Timeline: Live since March 2026
- 1Built a multi-tenant API on Hono.js running on Cloudflare Workers, fronted by Better Auth and backed by D1 (SQL), KV (cache), R2 (file storage), Queues (background work), Workflows (long-running tasks), and Vectorize (semantic search across event context)
- 2Shipped the marketing site (rsvpd.ai), the application (app.rsvpd.ai), and the API (api.rsvpd.ai) as separate Cloudflare Workers, each independently deployable with its own routing, caching, and edge logic
- 3Designed an AI vendor pipeline with seven canonical states (researching, contacted, meeting, negotiating, booked, contracted, completed). AI drafts outreach emails grounded in the event's date, venue, budget, and stated needs; the user reviews and sends through Gmail or Outlook; AI classifies replies and auto-advances the pipeline
- 4Wired Gmail Pub/Sub push notifications so inbound vendor replies route to the API in real time, get classified by Haiku, draft responses in Sonnet, and post to the right event thread within seconds
- 5Built an AI timeline generator that pulls context from the event record, existing items, vendors, budget, checklist, guest count, and Vectorize-indexed past conversations, then exposes interactive refinement so the user can iteratively adjust the timeline through natural language before applying changes
- 6Implemented eight first-class event types (wedding, baby shower, birthday, anniversary, corporate, dinner party, graduation, custom) with per-type templates, AI-generated checklists for custom types, and a cultural profile picker for weddings
- 7Built a planner-tier white-label dashboard ($399/mo) for professional wedding planners managing multiple client events, with per-event progress tracking, unread message counts, and upcoming deadlines surfaced in one view
- 8Set up the full SaaS commercial stack: Stripe billing for the $49/mo Pro tier, Resend for transactional email, free tier for non-wedding event types to drive vertical expansion, and a tiered model that doesn't require building per-vertical pricing plumbing
